Andrea Johns has been a resident of Oklahoma since 1983.  She studied at Oklahoma State University and is a Cameron University Alumni.  She worked in the financial industry for 15 years, taught 3rd grade for Lawton Public Schools, and owns Wrecker's BBQ with her husband.  Andrea Johns is a self-taught artist.  Her love for art began as a young girl watching her mother paint abstract art and recalls looking through her mother's collection of photographs. Andrea Johns focuses on abstract art or expressionism using fluid acrylics, alcohol ink, gouache, or oil paints.  She was awarded the 2023 City of Lawton Art Purchase Award.   Andrea is affiliated in several organizations and is a proud member of the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates; Hugh Bish Elementary Title I District Parent Advisory Committee representative; PTA Treasurer for Hugh Bish Elementary; Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition; Paseo Artists Association; and is featured on Oklahoma City's Artist Registry.

Andrea Johns painted a mural at the Lawton Food Bank with her friend Jordan Godlewski in Honor of Nicholas Mosiman, entered several juried art competitions, and her art was selected for an exhibit at the Paseo Art's and Creativity Center juried competition in 2024 and sold. She has also displayed her art and sold several art pieces at Viridian. Andrea Johns is set to have a photography exhibition May 17th at the Leslie Powell Gallery.  Her photographs focus on landscapes and nature.  Andrea Johns loves travelling to Colorado with her husband and son as often as she can.    She is drawn to grand landscapes and loves the entire process of discovering and photographing new and unique perspectives – including researching and scouting out potential photo locations, the experiences and challenges of hiking in the wilderness along the way, and the thrill of occasionally catching amazing light and photographing the scene she envisioned or maybe a spontaneous scene she didn't expect.  Andrea Johns hopes that her photography will take her to spectacular scenes she might not witness otherwise and hopes to share these scenes with others through her photos.
